Well, its been 6 months (last post says 4-14-08) and was wondering how every is holding up?? I am really considering taking my FLT Stage V out and have them refresh it and install the rossler TB for me.

So, how has it been holding up?

The transmission held up just fine. The tires didn't like the hit with Summer temps on the track though. The low 3.06 1st gear was playing havoc on us.lol. It would either hit, hook and try to go on the bumper or we would tighten the nose and it would blow the tires off. We could have spent the time to refine the suspension and dial it in, but we race either index races off the TB or brackets off the footbrake every other weekend so we had to tame her down to stay competitive.

We have a higher torque stroker in the works that will only magnify the traction issues so we opt to step up to a PG so we could keep her off the bumper. So far so good.

FWIW- The transmission took all we could throw at it. I really never worried about the transmission. The entire drivetrain was built to take 900+HP and it covered us comfortably.

We do have some big things in store for the end of the year though

Sounds like its working out flawlessly..

As of now I have a 4K stall in for street/strip use. If the TB is installed, can a lower stall be used on the street since at the track the trans brake will be used?

Or do you have to have a high stall + a Trans Brake to maximize both?. Just trying to figure out a nice combo.

Actually that's the best way to do it. I run in a 6.60 (1/8) mile index class and needed to run at least a 6.57 to stay competitive. I should have gone with a lower stalled TC and left off the transbrake without a 2 step, but in the Summer heat the was having trouble running the number even with the higher stall. The engine has over 680 passes on it and is getting tired.

A 3500 stall for the street and leaving off the brake at the track is a great plan IMO. I was having to leave off the 2 step at 3400-3600 anyway. I sure like the feel of a TB launch!

So, does having a higher stall help with the launch of the trans brake?? I was hoping to run a tighter ~3200 verter on the street, then pull 1.2X 60's at the track.

Yes and No. If you can hook and your peak Tq is up there a bit yeah it'll make a good bit of difference. You have to be able to hook though. The 2 step is a great tuning tool, but you will have a better reaction time leaving directly off the torque converter.

FWIW- I do see myself having another 4L60E with the TB. Eventually our 2000 SS will have a mild H/C set up and we'll be running either the 7.00 or 7.50 index classes. I plan on running a 3200-3500 stall and leave off the TB without a 2 step. It'll be mild on the street, but get the job done when we're on the track.

I like the fact that all the normal functions of the 4L60E stay the same and the TB only works while in D.

I want one of these soooo bad. Did not even know they were available. Been very frustrating trying to cut a good light against the t-400 t brake guys on the .400 pro tree while foot braking. BTW your car is badass.

I really dont race for competition or anything.. Its more of a goal to drive to the track and run low 10's, if and or high 9's and drive home on a stock short block I suppose..

I run 26x11.5x15 ET streets, so i hope that good enough.

I talked with ya some time back, I am really leaning towards doing it. I will send the trans back to you guys for a refresh and the install come spring. I finally got the built 9" and moser DS and a cage, so I think I am ready for the hard hit off the line. To me, thats the best part of the 1/4 mile, is the the 60'. :-)

You let us know when you are ready. If you do not have a billet shaft I think it would be a good idea to install one as well. Vince

Just a heads up, here is a link to a trans brake that is for sale here on LS1 tech. Currently this set up is at the shop new in the box. The seller has a multi disc converter and was told by the manufacturer not to run a brake with it. Being that this car is a turbo car he wanted to lock the converter at WOT. PI felt that the multi disc converter would not be a good idea with the brake so the customer made a decision to sell the brake. Here is the link. Vince
