How much space between the torque converter and the pump

How much space between the torque converter and the pump I have what appears to be almost an inch i just cant reach back there to confirm. From what i know there isnt supposed to be any space hardly so i am thinking this is what is causing my car to not engage the tranny and having a bunch of neutral gears.

Re: How much space between the torque converter and the pump I spun it and it locked in and clicked 3 times. But it appears that it backed out. I dont remember how much space there was but it just doesnt look right now that i checked it.

Re: How much space between the torque converter and the pump If the tranny is out of the car, the distance from the mounting pad of the tranny (where the tranny meets the motor) and the mounting pad of the converter (where the converter meets the flywheel) should be 1 1/16".
