Default Tranny Question... A4

If the front pump goes out when driving and you lose all gears, what is the chance you also burned up the clutches?

The tranny fluid is not burnt nor black...

Thanks

The chances are that the clutches are fine because when the pump breaks, all pressure is last to the clutches. The clutches are not "slipping" when they are not applied, they are turning freely. But in any event I would have the clutches looked at, since you have to go into the trans to fix the pump and clean any metal out of the tranny. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
