Default How bad is this? (pics)

I've had some trouble with the converter not locking up around 60-70mph and the clutch chattering. As I understand it's because of PWM. I adjusted my TCC max & min tables via hptuners and it helped, but didn't completely eliminate it. So I got a transgo HD2 that is supposed to eliminate the PWM. Last night I took the pan off to install it and found some sludge on the magnet, and some very fine metal particles in the pan and on the filter, almost like sand. The fluid is dark red with maybe a slight hint of brown and it doesn't smell burnt. I've had the converter in for about 2,000 miles of mostly easy driving.
Here is a pic of the particles in the pan.

If I remove the cooler, reinstall my stock converter and have the trans flushed will it be ok, or is it too late? Other than the occasional problem with light throttle lockup at 60-70mph the trans works fine. So is my trans screwed, what do you think??

The magnet looks typical, maybe slightly more stuff in the pan than usual.
So thats after 2000 miles?
Break the filter open and see whats in there too.

looks like normal transmission wear to me, you can drain the pan but there still will be fluid in the converter. you have to be able to cycle through the gears to get the stuff to completely flush out, thats what we do where i work and sometimes it takes acouple times to get it completely out.

I tore the filter apart and it's dirty, but I didn't find any metal in it.
Top of filter.

Bottom of filter.

You need to open the filter up, you're pic is of the outside, all the junk is on the inside between the folds.

Split the filter in two. There's some small metal particles in the fold.

What do you think?
I'm going to go ahead and install the transgo. If it breaks so be it, I have a spare.

The debris in the filter look like they might have come out of the converter from the lock up clutch. It doesn't look good.
