Default Can I visually identify the brand of converter?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I did a search and couldn't find it. I just bought a used converter and I want to verify what kind it is (Vigilante, TCI, Yank, etc). It has been painted so color is no help. Any identifying marks to look for? Thanks.

Won't be able to get pics until Sunday at the earliest.
It has been painted black, but that was by the previous owner. I know that normally red=Yank, pink=Vig, black=TCI.

If it's a TCI it will have TCI and the part number stamped on the transmission side.
Whats the diameter? Does it have a ring on the engine side or seperate mounting lugs?

It has 1023 S 0942AM 5568 lightly stamped on the side near the top, K2 R001 deeply stamped lower down on the side (blurrily pictured), and 1001910 lightly stamped on the bottom (even more blurrily pictured). I don't know if those mean anything.

Thats something built from a junkyard core. B&M or maybe even a Dacco.

That looks likes a 278 mm trailblazer converter. Commonly referred to as a 11". Stall range 2500-3000, depending on what was done on the inside. It uses the same clutch as a 12" OEM unit. It works good for a budget stall.

So 9000th and Circle-D, there's no way it could be a Yank Stealth Thruster?
What kind of Yank do you have JD (I know it's not a Stealth)? Does it look anything like my pics?

Seems doubtful. I thought all the yank units had billet covers ? Thats a factory cover.

$200. So if it's not what I wanted than at least I'm not out much. If it's a TCI or something than it's still not a bad deal, better than stock.

I think Yank makes one like that. Is there any red paint under the black?? Look on Yanks web site for a 278 mm.

No red paint under the scratches, he said he ordered it without paint because he doesn't like red.
I just looked at other brands, including Vig, TCI, B&M, and Dacco (which doesn't even make a 4L60E stall) and the only one I found that looks like mine is the Yank Stealth Thruster series. Most of the others have 4 rows of fins, not 3 like mine. The B&M Holeshot (which is normally blue) is kinda close on the tranny side (shown) but not on the engine side.

And like 9000th said, the TCI (which comes in black) has "TCI" and a part number stamped on the cover so that's eliminated.

The Stealth Thrust is for cars that are stock or just have just mild bolt-ons, and it sells for $425 brand new, so I doubt it comes with a billet cover. It's the cheapest converter they offer.
