Default TH400 Conversion Q's

Going from an M6 to TH400.

What parts are needed?
Price of aforementioned parts?
Part numbers if possible?

This is for a full time drag car. Dont bother with speedometer parts, or any frills. I already have the TH400/Yank Converter/Transbrake/B&M Tranny Cooler. Now I just need the parts to put it in. Thanks in advance!

Get a dipstick from MADMAN. A tq arm setup from MADMAN. Get an A4 tranny crossmember and move the mount pad backwards ~2". Get a poly tranny mount. Get a shifter of your choice.

Actually you can use your trans crossmember. I have the dipsticks in stock. $69.95. A a4 flexplate works just fine. You will need a new driveshaft. We sell a 3.5 aluminum shaft with the th400 yoke and solid ujoints for $395.00 Give me a call for more info. 281-449-8833

Do you have to shim the flexplate? Does the LS1 starter from an M6 crank a TH400?

Yes the starter will work. The only trick is the torque converter you have to add 5/8 inch to the snout.

I have heard the most problems with having to shim, have been with the Yank convertors. I have an ATI convertor and tranny, and mine bolted right up, no shimming.

I appreciate all the responses. I decided to put off the TH400 install for another month. My main focus right now is installing a Racetronix plug and play setup and new shocks and springs.

For the tranny cooler, what lines do you recommend? And with a 4000 stall, how much heat can I expect the tranny to generate. The last TH400 I had in a 79 Trans Am I had years ago kept cooking itself to death with the big stall. I had to replace the tranny 4 times in one year, and it put me off of automatic transmissions for 12 years!

I ordered a vigi3200 for a th350 from PI. I only had to put some 1/8" washers between the flexplate and converter. I don't she where you would need to do more than that with any other converter.
