Default Help!!!!

Hey guys, I just put in a trans go shift kit in my 4l60e tonight and on my way to work (I work midnight shift) the car decided it only wanted to run in 1st gear. I came straight home and hooked autotap up to it since it threw a code and it says its the shift silenoid. Is this a common problem or did I screw up somehow, and how much do you think it will cost to fix it?

ok, new info to add here. I went out this morning and autotapped everything and cleared the codes to see what happened. I cant get the shift selinoid code to reaccure, but all I get is multiple misfire codes. Heres why....

when you first shift the car into D it puts it in first gear. It seems to go through this gear rather quick, say about 1500 rpms and 15 mph, then it shifts into 2nd. Now second gear it wants to go all the way up to 6000 rpms and the desired speed before it will shift again. But duruing this whole gear autotap says that the car shifts into 3rd gear, although it doesnt seem noticable. When you finally get to 6000 rpms and about 45 mph it will shift into 4th, supposidly. 4th gear seems a little awkward, in the fact that it doesnt seem like overdrive no more. at 65 mph the car is turnin 3500 rpms or so, with stock 2.73 gears.

My guess is that it shifts into 3rd, but its doing 2 gear and 3rd gear as if I was upshifting manually. But like I said, according to autotap its shifting into all the gears, even though it only shifts two times, 1-2 and 2-4. The missfires were from it sitting at 6000 rpms waiting for it to finally reach speed to shift. Any of you tranny geniuses know whats wrong?

If the problems started right after the shift kit was installed, you might want to pull the valve body back apart and make sure everything is put back together correctly. Something might not be right down there if the trans is acting crazy like that.

Sorry to here about your troubles FrieghtT3, I did the transgo sk on my 98 2 weeks ago and I would not have attempted it, if it were not for having the helms manuals. I found the transgo instructions painfully inadequet/ misleading. In the second edition Helm service manual, volume 3 of 3, page 7-283 there is an important notice that reads "Torque valve body bolts in a spiral pattern starting from the center. If the bolts are torqued at random, valve bores may be distorted and inhibit valve operation." And there is a picture...also (11 Nm or 97lb in.) What code(s) did you originally have that won't come back now? Plus which spring did you use on the 2-3 solenoid valve upgrade? Red or white? I know it is dependant on the number that appears on the 2-4 servo. I'd have to look up my notes again but I remeber using the white spring. I would be happy to help more but need more info on which mods you went with out of the kit.

well I didnt know about torquing the bolts. It was a code p0739 or something like that, it was for a shift/timing selinoid. I figured I might have messed up a selinoid or two when I had it apart. I cant remember what spring, but it was for the 093 number, I think a white spring. Otherwise I did ever other upgrade the instructions said to do.

Since it shifts so fast it sounds like the car went into limp mode. Gives you just enough to get home.
