Default Silly Sauce killed my converter, suggestions...

Well, the 'verter held up to about 20 passes (testing and street racing, no track time) spraying my new NX kit with only the 75 shot jets installed.

I have a Mike Kurtz built (in 1998) 4L60E and one of his converters (2800 stall). It's taken a lot of abuse over 25k miles and about 300 track passes. However, the converter just decided it was unhappy with the spray and is occasionally just not engaging at all. Under WOT, it sometimes just decides to do nothing and it's like I threw it in neutral. NOT GOOD if you are going to spray. Not good under any circumstances in fact.

Anyway, who has some good suggestions for my next converter? I have a comp cam that comes on pretty low at like 2200, so I was having fun with the (relatively) low stall speed of 2800. Getting good hard launches and often putting a couple cars on other guys who are actually faster and walk me down on the big end.

What converter do you recommend with the spray? I imagine anti-ballooning plates may be necessary? I think the sudden shock of the Naws hit was a little too much for mine.

Thanks in advance

A 75 shot is a rather mild shot.

You sure its the verter that is messed up and not the transmission?

An other vote for a transmission problem, I would say it is not the Torque converter.

I'll have it checked out tomorrow hopefully. The trans could be going, but the fluid looks absolutely fine and it doesn't make any noises like the other tranny's I have broken. I know there are a lot of different components you can break, and some may or may not have an audible sign, so basing it on my past "tranny breakage experience" is not necessarily a good method.
First time I blew this one, in 1997, it was obvious. Grinding noises and no 1st gear! This time it's a little strange.

You guys are probably right. I'll post the diagnostic results when I find out.

you can definetly blow a tranny w/out weird noises or strange lookin fluid... My last tranny went out... fluid was pink, no noises, but I could see my trans temp skyrocketing (excess slippage)... a friend's tranny started doing something similar last saturday.. wouldn't hold 3rd or 4th under load... fluid looked fine

I would recommend if you are going to spray higher than you are now to get anti ballooning plates, otherwise you may goob your verter

Another vote for the tranny having failed. Automatic tranny failures come in all shapes, sizes, smells and flavors.
