Default M6 vs. A4

Has anyove out there went from the 6 speed to the 4l60. I am currently running a 6 and really considering going auto, but not just a th350 or 400, I want the overdrive. My car does not like the idea of speed shifting and I know I am giving up at least a half second or more by granny shifting. I need to get that power to the ground. Anyone out there can lend a hand?

If you want to rape 90% of the 6 speeds on the street out of the hole go auto 4L60e. Get a trans from one of the sponsors on this site. Don't get a factory one. You could sell your 6 speed setup and probably wouldnt cost you too much more to do the swap. I have a performabuilt lvl2 and it hasnt missed a beat. I'm sure driving a 6 speed is extremely fun as I have ridden in friends 6 speed cars, but when its time to do business from a stop on the street you wont regret getting rid of that 6 speed. Plus you wont have to worry much at all about that factory 10 bolt

What about the wiring to make it all work. Do I need a new computer, wiring harness. Do i slice into the current harness? What's needed?

I don't know... I'm torn between the two (M6 or A4) as I've had both. I really miss the M6 (99Z28) and with a good shifter, clutch and practice, you can speed shift the hell out of the Tremec. I did upgrade to an LS6 master/slave & steel 3-4 shift fork after bending it with speed shifting though. Speed shifting and landing the shifts at around 4500rpm would allow me to chirp
4th! My 94Z28 with an A4, 3.73's and an SLP 2800 stall was real fun! Off the line was a beast and the rpms never drop like with a stock converter.
Now with my 04 Z28 I'm thinking about converter (or headers) next.
I think I need one of each!
