A4/M6 console differance?

A4/M6 console differance? What is the differance between an A4 and M6 console. I've already gotten the upper part but when I tried to put the stock A4 shifter in my M6 lower console w/a4 upper it didn't want to clear. I figured the consoles were the same with differant uppers.
