Yank Trans How are Yank's transmissions?
I really want a good trans that will hold up to around 450hp and slicks, and still last awhile since I put A LOT of daily driving miles on my car (35 mile commute each way)

Re: Yank Trans They're excellent, but Yank has phased themselves more and more out of the tranny business and concentrated more on converters and transmission conversion kits (like the lock-up TH 400 for C-5s). There are many sponsors on the board that make good trannies too.

Re: Yank Trans 2 people I know hear on Island have gotten Yank transmissions and both of them have have problems.
I heard Yank doesn't build there own trans, but I could be wrong.
Sorry, just upset I have to spend money on a new trans because of a Yank converter.
The guys at Cmotorsports have been really good to deal with, I'll let you know how the trans is next week.

I will say that I know of trannies from several sponsors, including Yank, that have had their share of successes and some reported failures.
Make sure you understand why your tranny failed before buying a $2k replacement. A built tranny will not survive bad programming, mis-aligned drivetrain, excessive heat, or other self inflicted problems any better than a stocker.

Re: Yank Trans Remember the picture of Patrick G running laps on on the road course and spraying his way past a group of fast Porsches? I have that tranny. It has had 4 owners including me. It has seen 2 1/2 years and lots of hard nitrous use. I just had it rebuilt by Mike before he moved his shop.
The tranny is great. Mike's guy just freshened the clutches and replaced the solinoids. Everything else was in excellent shape. This tranny has done quite well.

Re: Yank Trans I loved mine until it broke. I only got 11K and 75 track (1/4) passes out of it before the 2-3 clutches went. I have a Mike Kurtz built tranny now. I will say though that my SY3500 is the BEST converter I have ever owned and that Mike Senia @ Yank has always been good to deal with. Too bad they dont offer 12K warranty's!! LOL!

Re: Yank Trans Thanks! I am definately going with a Yank SS3600 Converter, just don't know what trans to get.
Any links/names anyone could provide for somewhere they feel really makes a durable trans would be great.
Also, what type of tuning is required when you swap to a different trans? I've only ever dealt with manuals before where you just pop it in and go.
