Installing a rear gear?

Installing a rear gear? This may be a question that has been beat to death but, here goes:
How hard is it to install the rear gear in a stock rear end by ones self? And other than the install kit and of course gear lube, any other advise?
Or am I just better to pay someone to do it?

Re: Installing a rear gear? In my opinion you are better off paying some one or have a shop do it for you. Because unless you have a lot of experience on doing it you risk leaks, noisy or improperly shimmed ring and pinion if shimmes are required ETC... A shop is likley to cover these items if they do the work and so over all you are the one getting the deal when your rearend leaks because they are going to fix for free. And if it anything goes wrong due to improper instalation (god forbid) you have a leg to stand on when it comes time to getting it repaired. On average it cost $150-$250 for installation alone around here. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
