Input drum damage!!!
I wounder why the 3 and 4 clutches where TOAST.... lol Tell me what you guys think of the damage and what might have caused it.. thanks

Judging by the hot spots on the steels and very worn frictions, I would suspect that excessive clutch clearance with hard 2-3 shifts is what broke the drum. Just a guess. Vince
Same thing I told him when he sent me the pictures to host for him.

I would agree with Vince excessive wear and or clutch clearance and possibly excessive line pressure could be the cause.

x-ray the drum and or use a flourescing dye on it and I bet the metal looks like a sponge. Looks like a contiminated casting. the snap ring lugs fialed and the rest of the damage ensued. Remember the parts your using are only ever so slightly over engineered.

This is not a PerformaBuilt unit. That is true... It was a stage 1 century built trans. There is another post about this trans.. 3rd and 4th clutches if you want more info.
