We have come up with a plan for our customers who are now out of warranty. We feel this is a great way to help our customers in a new and different way.
On all PerformaBuilt 4L60E, 7004R , TH350 and 400 units regardless of when they were purchased or LEVEL if there is ever a failure, we service what we sell. Any time after the warranty period if theres ever a failure of any kind you can contact us, we will explain to you how to box the transmission up, Once you have done this we will have the transmission picked up and brought to us where we will restore the trans completely not refreshed! Restored just like it was originally built plus any new updates that may have been made since your original purchase and We will return the unit to you ready to go and fully tested with the full Performabuilt warranty according to our normal 6 month or 1 year time frames depending on wether you have the converter refreshed "Performabuilt converter at the same time or purchase a new one" This service cost $950 this includes a complete redo of the trans not just a look over and replace whats damaged but the same procedure we use to build the trans in the beginning. All shipping parts and labor fully included regardless of whats damaged in the unit.
We feel there is no reason to fix what isn't broken so don't send the trans back for a RESTORE until it breaks then we will take care of it for you and return in within a few days or receiving it.
We had been ask a few times about a refresh and discussed it and it IMO seemed pointless to send a trans back with nothing wrong with it and in keeping with our normal system we wanted to be able to offer a fixed cost not X amount plus parts and shipping and we wanted to give the customer the peace of mind that once they got there unit back it would be backed by our full warranty Not just 30,60 or 90 days.
We are happy to offer this service please feel free to ask any questions about it but with this service you will never pay full price for a PerformaBuilt unit again.
We will have a plan in place also for the 4L80E but since we only recently started offering these and our warranty is so long we have some time before they will need to be addressed.
Again this is not a repair or a refresh this is a complete restoration.

Sounds good.
I'm sure most people who order transmissions get them installed and running in short order, but there are others like me that the warrenty period will be half over or over before the transmissions get it's first use.
Right now my transmission is installed in aftermarket frame. Frame is still sitting at manufacture waiting on one of his vendors to ship that mfg outsourced component to complete so mfg can ship me the frame.
Been waiting 3 weeks and just informed vendor would not give shiping date but it could happen in next 4 to 12 weeks, but could be longer.
Then there is vendor I ordered new jig built front end from that was supposed to have been delivered 4 weeks ago but was informed their shipping date had been pushed out 16 more weeks. That's 2 weeks more than their original schedule for delivery.
All this screws up body shop and that means they have to try and fit me back into their schedule. In all honesty, your year's warrenty will probably be over before the project is finished and on the road.
How about warrenty policy that would allow for start of warrenty when trans gets it first usage. I know this would require some means of comunication between customer and Performa an in all honesty, Performa having a lot of trust in we the customer being honest with Performa as to date the trans got it's first usage.

We actually do have contingencies for just that situation we don't leave people in the cold however they are handled on a per situation basis. We work with people in any and all situations.

I ordered a level 3 from you guys last week for my procharged GTO and this makes me even happier that I did! You've been very helpful so far in answering my questions and giving your input on my build. Looking very much forward to installing the new tranny and hammering down!

Now THAT is good customer service Frank. That would have helped me with my Level 2 issue. Except for the down time in shipping, I would have seriously given that thought. I definitely would have liked you to have a look at the tranny to see what happened. Now with that policy it makes it so much easier to do just that. Please post that on your site.

wow I think I was just sold on your tranny because of this.... I have been reading and going over anything i can think of crossing my T's and dotting my I's...I didn't like having to pull the bell housing and all but after reading im OK with that now.... I like the idea how you offer a year warranty with the purchase of a converter and then the best part yet is this when you break it spend $950 and you get it your transmission completely overhauled and shipped back to you.....It will prob be around February before I buy "" need to see if UNCLE SAM is going to hit me"" COUGH COUGH any sales that may be coming for us tax check buyers ????? hahahahahahaha

I may have ordered my trans a bit early.
