temp gauge on my 4L60E
ok i am really wanting to put a temp. gauge on the 4L60E but i was wondering what is the easiest way to do it..only thing i could think to do is tap a hole in the pan, weld a nut and throw a gauge in there??? is there any easier or better ways to do this thanks.

B&M sells a a drain plug kit for like $10... The plug is the same size as most senders. Simply do a fluid/filter change, drill the pan, bolt the kit in and replace the plug with the sender... True pan temps and a drain plug to boot.

mine is in the pan but i pulled the pan and welded it. i would suggest being very careful drilling the pan with it still on the tranny. its not empty, it has plenty of **** you could hit with the drill bit. plus a nut may not fit on the inside bc of the tight fit in there. i welded mine on the outside just to be safe.

You "Fbody" guys need to remember your lack of ground clearance when choosing a spot to drill your pan . You may want to consider the side or the rear where it will not interfere with any thing !!

sorry for the bad pic but it wasn't meant to be a trans pic. the bottom in the back is the drain plug and in the front right corner is the sending unit.

I think it reads cooler than the tranny actually is (20 degrees is what i've been told with a 4l60e). But i agree, take the pressure port bolt out and screw the gauge sending unit in and call it a day.
