Cant get the car out of park! Im no idiot, but shifters, door panels, and dashes turn me into a shaved ape. All I do is break stuff

I pushed the button and it goes in with pressure but wont click. Before this, I would have problems with it being really hard to click and I would often have to use two hands to pop it. Now it wont move at all! Any methods of getting this to work without costing hundreds of dollars? I had to settle for riding my bike to work when it was 112 degrees outside! not fun.

PLEASE HELP!!

 

start taking it apart and check it out, you shouldnt break anything on the shifter or console.
