Default Dynoeing with Py3600E Verter

Hey, is there any special way to dyno with a Torque Converter? I have a PY3600E verter with 3.73 Gears. I usually floor it around 70mph on dyno. Will it still be the same or what? Thanks.

For proper tuning change your tranny settings in EDIT to prevent a WOT 3-2 downshift above 40 mph and lock the converter at 50 mph. Punch it 42 mph and begin sampling at 55 mph.

If you are just dynoing for the fun of it, you can do it unlocked.

I only have the predator. I don't have LS1 Edit, is there any other way to lock verter? I just punch it from a 70 mph roll in Drive, and it never downshifted before.

If the dyno shop has a Tech II, they can use it to lock the 'verter

Ragtop 99, isn't it risky to lock the TC?

Not if you lock it when not on the throttle.

Thanks! Can you explain why? I'm hearing more and more TC's and trannys are being rebuilt sometime after being dyno'd.

Because when you're on the throttle the clutch has to match the speed of the input and output sides of the converter while fighting the power of the engine (this causes EXTREME friction and heat!) When you're not on the throttle it's physically easy for the clutch to match the two together (when the PCM locks in under normal conditions you are at low throttle positions so this would be no different.) Once the converter is locked there should be no slippage...thus, no clutch wearing friction.
