Default I need everyone's take on TM??

I plan on getting a Midwest 3400 2.0 TC and i hear that TM is bad on 01 ls1 cars. Question is when i get the TC will TM have a bad affect on the true performance of the TC? If it does and I delete TM will it cause my tranny to go much sooner then it would with it? Why did GM put TM on a performance car in the 1st place and what is my best interest in protecting my tranny from going south on me? Thanks.

TM is designed to help protect the tranny by reducing the power it sees during the shift. If your budget does not allow you to rebuild your tranny in a couple years, you might not want to delete it.

TM with a converter is more SOTP noticable than stock, but I'm not sure if costs anything more at the track. I don't know anyone who has track tested only the TM delete and I don't put a lot of faith in SOTP claims.

You could reduce, but not eliminate TM, as a partial cure. Also a good shift kit can help reduce the effect of deleting TM.

I will go to the track maybe 2 times a year and other then that it's all on the street as this is my daily driver. I drive the car like a guy should drive these types of cars but i don't beat on it cuz i do want it to last. Is TM only interfering with the shifts or does it pull timing anytime it sees necessary?

TM basically slows the shifts down creating more slippage and more heat so i think it would do the tranny good to remove it, right? Also after i do the TC what other tuning should i have done? Shift Points etc..? Midwest 3400 2.0 is what i'm thinkin on getting. Any thoughts on that would be great too.

Pulling engine timing reduces engine power, not slows shifting. So, the tranny doesn't see more slippage & heat from TM.

TM: Detunes the engine via timeing for an "expected shift time". Basicly the engine is waiting on the trans hydralics to fully engage the desired clutch/band combo.
