Default 4L60e Transmission Shifter Button Problem

Ok I have a 98 A4 and my question to you all is how can I fix my shifter button? It is up but is like engaged at all times... meaning that I don't have to touch the button to shift my car from D to R not even press the brake... it don't really bother me but I have a baby and would rather fix this problem before something happens... Thanks and I'd really appreciate the help
