Default Which of these converters is best from a roll

I'm looking at different TC options, and was hoping to get some input from you guys. My car is 99% street driven, with maybe 2 or 3 trips to the track per year. I would like to be able to 60' somewhere in the 1.6x-1.7x range. Most importnantly, I want a converter that will be a monster from a roll on the street. My mods are in my sig. Here's what I'm looking at (in this order)

TCS (between 3500-3800)
TCI SSF (3500-3800)
Vig 3600

Thanks
Jeff

Probably the TCS because each TCS convertor is built to order, that is they don't have any pre-made convertors. After talking with you to determine exactly what you want out of a convertor and getting all the info on your car, they build the exact convertor you specified. We just put a TCS 3800 in my son's 99 Z. It's in town driveability is simply amazing. No shudder. No vibration. No lockup problems. From a 60 mph roll it almost feels like a nitrous hit! So far this has been the best money he has spent on his car.

Gold Z,

Thanks for the reply. I have been leaning towards the TCS for the reason you mentioned (custom built)... and the free restalls are a nice plus .

Out of curiousity, what STR did you order your sons converter with? Also, are you running any shift kit or cooler with it?

Jeff,if your looking at cutting 1.7-1.6 60fts. a 2.5 str will do that easy. If you want more then the 2.7 str will get you there. For what your wanting it should be no problem.

I don't think you can beat a YANK from a roll....if I had not gotten my SY4000, I would have gotten a PT4400 for sure...I hear that are SuperNasty from a roll

Hmmm you should ride in mine from a roll lol. On street tires it is useless but on ET Drag from a 20 punch and hooks it will make your eyes cross! Feels like you pulling the wheels haha!

I was looking at the TP4000, but had a few concerns. My main concern would be running out of RPM. I plan on sticking with stock internals for a while, so I don't want to push the stock valvetrain past 6000. Doesn't the TP4000 have a shift extension somewhere around 5300? I would think that would be too high for a 6000 RPM redline. Thanks for all the replys

For my son's car I ordered a 3800 stall with a 2.5 str and a short shift extention. For my car I ordered a 3800 stall with a 2.35 str and a longer shift extention because I will be using a heavy shot of nitrous. Just call Derek at TCS and discuss your needs with him even if you aren't ready to buy. There are only a few people in the industry who really practice great customer service and Derek is one of them.
