Default Help with Tail Shaft

Hi
Re 98 A4 Camaro:
Rear tranny seal leaks (replace it once already) and the car makes a clunk when blipping the throttle under light load. You can actually move the slip yoke up/down in the tail housing with the drive shaft connected.

My mechanic told me the bushing in the tail housing needs replacing. In addition, also recommends replacing the slip yoke.

1) Can you get a replacement bushing kit?
2) It's a 98 car with an aluminum drive shaft out of a 2002 anniversary rag top. Do I buy a 98 yoke or a 2002 yoke? Are they both the same?

Any help appreciated.

You can get just the bushing, you don't need a whole kit, and a new seal. Probably about $8 plus shipping. Good name brand parts. The yoke I'd take out and measure. The only worn yokes I've seen had over 200,000 miles on them. But if you order one anyway just order it for the car it came out of, not that it really matters.

I can get the bushing and seal from GM. I agree the slip yoke should be fine. However, it has been clunking for quite a while. I will have to find out from my mechanic why he wants to replace it. GM wants 375 for one. If I do need one I will try a sponsor.
