Default Where does that pipe/tube on top of the 4L60E go?

I'm doing a 99 LS1 swap into my 97 firebird and noticed on top of my LS1 A4 there is this pipe that has a tube attached to it.. I have no idea where it goes.

On my 97 A4 tranny the pipe is there but no tube.

Can I just pull the tube off and leave the pipe open like that?

That is a vent tube to allow the trans to vent when it gets hot. The reason for the rubber tube is incase the trans vents trans fluid, it will not get all over the tranny. You can take off the rubber hose.

Hey, Its my understanding that the tube (rubber hose) is an extension so that in the event of the tranny venting (fluid) it'll be directed away for the cat converter, and exhaust system lestening the chance of fires. Hope this helps.

On my 99 SS the vent tube is attached to my torque arm with some clips.
