Converter w/street tires
Converter w/street tires I was thinking about getting a 3200 stall converter and right now I have G-force KDW's. If I go to the track with the converter and street tires, is it going to do any good, or just spin the tires and kill my times? The car is a 2001 SS A4 with bolt on's on stock 17x9 ZR1 rims.

Re: Converter w/street tires Well, you're not gonna be able to punch it out of the hole, but if you ease into it you can cut 60s in the 1.8s (my best is a 1.80).

Re: Converter w/street tires your tires are a bigger size than mine but i know with only lid and catback and stock converter i could blow my kdw's off from a dead stop, i had to let off or it would sit on the limiter in first. from a dead stop theyre worse than my old comp t/a's but better in the rain. i doubt youll be able to keep decent traction with a converter, even drag radials have a hard time with a good size converter.
Re: Converter w/street tires Don't know your mods, but even without knowing them I can tell you that you won't hook up. A stock LS1 with a stall will blow off street tires on the launch. For good ET's, get a set of BFG Drag Radials. They handle very well for a drag tire and you can drive them to the track.

Re: Converter w/street tires What's the STR of the converter. I went with a 2.0 to curb burning my KDW's up. I am in the middle of installing it now, but I will let you know how the 2.0 does with KDW's. BTW, its a 3500 stall. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: Converter w/street tires The best drag radials by far are the mickey thompson et streets. They are basically a slick with lines cut into them plus they are street legal. Just my opinion, but I know alot of people that got the bfg drag radials and sold them after the first weekend at the track.
Re: Converter w/street tires et streets arent a radial tire and cant be considered drag radials. theyre a slick with grooves in them to make them DOT legal.
just as an fyi i picked up 2 tenths in the 60ft just by adding 255 bfg's over 245 kdw's.
