first impressions of TCS 3800
The only problem I'm having is that, from a roll, the downshifts seem very lazy. With the stock converter, when I would floor it around 25mph, it would shift into 1st gear hard and push me back into the seat. Now it seems to shift into first very soft. The RPMs come up fast, but the car doesn't seem to pull as hard. I have not installed a shift kit in the trans yet. Any possiblity that this would help? If so, any recommendations on brand of shift kit would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff
Trans go will do the trick
Shift kit will only make the car feel more responsive but will not have any affect on speed or ET's. Torque management maybe causeing some of your problems if the tires don't help. If you can,get the PCM tuned to delete TM and increase the line pressure some to help firm the shifts up.
I was wondering what type of tuning you all are doing when installing a TC. Is it something that I should consider getting Ls1Edit or Predator for and do it myself, or let a shop do it?

Alot of people don't take advantage of tuning with a converter but it can maximize the full potential of the converter by doing so.
Torque management will delay the transmission shift, more so on the 01-02 model cars. By deleteing it you can speed up the shift just a tad that will allow the car to charge harder through the gears but some claim it will shorten the life of your transmission, that i can't say i have seen.
Line preassure will firm up the shifts and take back some of the slush that the converter gives.
Shift points need to be raised because of the added shift extentions and most of the bolt on LS1s like to be shifted at 6100-6200rpms,from what i have seen. When mine was a bolt on car i would shift at 6200rpms along with a 6400rpm revlimiter.
With all of this done it is possible to gain a extra .1/1mph by doing so. I picked up .5/.07mph by moving my shift points back when i was all bolt ons.
