Default Which trans to use?

I need a transmission for race only. The goal is to be in the 8's in the 1/4 mile with a race weight of 3300 to 3400. I'm tuning the engine with my 4L60E than I'm needing something that will hold around 1100+ to the rear wheels. This is a nitrous car and built for a 300 to 500 shot but mostly 300.........nothing to serious LOL. I'm thinking a th400 will be the best for this car needs. I've been thinking about a power glide but I am not convinced this is my best option. Any help would be appreciated.

Not for a 1100 hp car. The level 2 nor 3 or any level of 4l60e would take that for long at all. I would suggest the TH400 or if remaining a street driver a 4L80E

Seeing as this is a race only, I would go with a properly built 400 or a glide. Both of which can take that power.

I agree with Vince

TH400 or a Powerglide

There is no reason to build an overdive unit for an 8 second car that is not going to see the street. It simply has too much weight and too much rotating mass.

I help guys with this decision very frequently, we build units for these applications often. Regardless which direction you go, feel free to give me a shout here at the shop... I'd be happy to discuss some options and the pro's and con's.

Thank you for the replies. I guess a better question is, which transmission shop can build the best trans for my application at a price I can afford.
