Shifts into 2nd when left in 1st.
Shifts into 2nd when left in 1st. Tried searching a little, but came up with no results. My friend has a 95 Firehawk, and we were getting rid of some old tires yesterday doing some burnouts and donuts. It always shifted into 2nd and then bogs even though the shifter was in 1st gear. Is this normal, or is there something you can do so it stays in 1st and not shift into 2nd automatically. Other than of course giving it more power so burns through second. 
The 4L60E is supposed to shift into second when it hits the redline in first..it's a safety feature so you don't blow the Engine up.
I don't know about the bogging..probably the Tires getting traction and the Car using some torque.

yes it is normal .the only way around it is the transgo hd2 kit which will allow you to hold gown and shift down at any speed but the best solution is to tune the car for the correct shift points in od
