Yes a misfire does cause the SES light to flash a few times. If it's on for other reasons it should still show it misfired when the codes are read.

well my light isnt blinking. its thrown codes for AIR/EGR, EVAP, rear o2 because they have been taken off of the car. if i had detonation, would it cause the SES light to flash? it sounds like im pinging but the SES light doesnt flash. i know im either running lean or rich from my mods. i still need a tune

I think you know what to do, and it'll be fine when you get it all done.

I'm guessing if you're ses light is on it won't blink during a misfire. I know if the ses is off it will flash and throw a misfire code.

Nothing will make it flash when it's on and pinging doesn't make it flash when it's off.
I'd try to not let it ping, thats very bad for it. Get it tuned and it should be fine.

yep, thats what i figured was the need of a tune. im getting one really soon and when i hear pinging, i give it less throttle so i dont mess anything up. i also figured having a misfire was causing the way my car felt when flooring it at 70 for downshift
