Is this trans fried, or reparirable?
Is this trans fried, or reparirable? I just bought a 97 camaro for REAL cheap, and the guy said it needed a new tranny. I know almost nothing about transmissions and am not sure what can be repaired on one.
But anyways, its got an slp 2600 stall, but im not sure if he put a cooler in with it which i know is a must. He said he didnt drive it much with the stall and it went out one day, so he parked it. When i got it, it was very low in transmission fluid so i filled it up, none leaked out. It has a perfect reverse, park and neutral. I only pulls foward on a flat surface but just barely, and when its in drive it make a loud whining sound.
Is there any way that is something that can be repaired or am i going to need a full rebuild?

Based on your description you are going to have to fully rebuild or replace the transmission. Making noise you likely have hard parts damage so replacing is probably the best idea. It can be made to work as it is and LT-1 style but your better off getting what you need for your car rather than rigging it up

I just need to get it on the road so i can sell my old car and pay my loan off while making some extra $$$. What will need to be done to make it work? will it need a special torque converter or will i just need to change the tail shaft?
I know i need to go with a rebuilt unit but thats not happening till next summer. Im about to start school, so im not going to get to work any extra hours for a while, but next summer im definitly going with a rebuilt unit and a big stall.
