Busted Tranny mount?
Busted Tranny mount? The past couple of days, while taking off from an intersection while turning right (with a decent amount of throttle, no problems on light throttle), my tranny would make a few popping noises rapidly. With my hand on the shifter, I could feel a vibration that corresponded to each pop. This also happened once on a meduim-high throttle upshift.
Fluid in the tranny is a little low, but nice and red in color. Could this problem be caused by a busted transmission mount? I jacked the car up and looked at it and it had a small slit on the side--is that normal?
If it is the mount, any recomendations on a good replacement? TIA

Re: Busted Tranny mount? The best way to check the tranny mount is to put the car on jackstands, and then jack up the output housing. If the tranny lifts off the crossmember or the mount looks like it's tearing, then the mount is bad. This is a good time to check your engine mounts, too! Same deal. Jack up on the oil pan (use a piece of wood between the jack and the pan) and take a look at the mounts. The should deflect a little, but you should be able to pick the car off the ground with the engine (not recommended!).
