JFM were kinda in the same boat.
I wanna run 10.90's,thats my goal and I wanna keep the 4L60E too.I had a buddy of mine do a trans for me and so far its holding on 11.2 passes just fine.

He also told me u dont need a vacum mod kit but I opted for one.He didnt say it was a bad thing just that the "eip noid" can do the job.He loves the t-com controller from tci and uses them but it was too much $$$ for my budget. He likes the way u can control the trans via a laptop. He also told me u need to check line psi in all gears.

He also told me that he doesnt believe in all the new parts all the time because in some instances there weaker.

Basically what BRAINS said is what my buddy has said to me.Oh and he too doesnt use certain clutches, bands that others do.He's very picky when it comes to his work, parts and doesnt give away too many secrets.

I believe u can get a 4l60e to go 200 hard runs (11.1 to 10.60) before a rebuild and thats pretty good in my book.

We'll see,so far I have about 30 runs on this trans and I'll be beating on it real soon

Joel that is what I would be happy with[200 passes].I know your car is not an ultralight so the trans gets worked harder, good luck with it and keep us posted.

I guess the old adage"a chain is only as strong as its weakest link"can be applied here. The only way to know is for us to test the trannys and report on them.Remember that all it takes is one small detail undone, forgotten and the trans wont work correctly.

I will check out that TCI/TCom controller, sounds like it will help save the trans.

Damn, we are looking for the same things. I am now in lower half of the 11's (recently 11.01 -.03) and loving it. But, the thought that my trans may go makes me sick. I have over 300, close to 400 if not over already runs on her. I changed her fluid 4times, filter 2twice. I have made all but 12 of those passes in less than 12 months, and about 60% of them on the bottle sprayign thru the shifts and from the line. Looking at a Rossler prepped trans next.

Cat3,your 4L60E does not owe you anything, just shows how much some can take.Spraying off the line and thru the shift on the juice is tuff on a trans but you have done the maintainence on it.Do you have a trans cooler?

I can't imagine not shifting with nitrous on. I used a very well built 200-4r and didn't think much of it at all, after the 4th pass. Until then, I was a bit concerned about it's living. After 30,000 miles of daily use and probably in the neighborhood of 700 passes(over 3yrs. use), 2nd gear went, but the rest of the trans lasted the next 2+ weeks till I found a shop I trusted to do a proper rebuild(and until I bought a 2nd car to get around with). Since then, it's never given a moments trouble. Being able to use O/D at full throttle was probably the biggest payoff to using the 200. I was able to shift on the track, into O/D at WOT with nitrous on. That's why I like it so much. It would only run about 125mph top speed without O/D before the 3:73's became too much for the rpm limit of 6,200.
