TXCAMSS summed it very well and helped me alot when I had similar questions. Definitely give Chris a call. He's a nice guy who will make sure you get the right converter.
I went from a Yank PT4000 to a Circle D 5C. I'm going to the track next weekend, so hopefully I will have good results to report back. The shift extension is not as high on the 5C (about 5600 rpms vs 6000 for the PT4000). It has a solid lockup and is a great 'frum roll" converter if that is your thing. Street manners for a large converter like this are not as bad as you would imagine (no looser than the PT). Overall I'm very happy with my choice.

Yes. I managed to barely beat my best with a 1.43 60-ft on brand new Hoosier DR's (love these tires) and a 10.83 ET. Certainly not what I wanted, but it was hot and the tune needs a little work. I did manage to the get the front wheels up on every launch and somehow managed 17 mpg driving to and from the track. I'm going to a different track on the 11th.

The pt 4400 series have a real high shift extension ( 6100-7000 my car ) with efficency between 12-13%, 4.11 gear. 1.40-1.42 60 fts.The ss4000 in my sons car actually hits harder and is much more effecient, with shift extension much lower. His cam only has gone 1.40 60ft 10.95 at 122 mph.If he had heads on his car he could go lower 60 fts, maybe 1.38. Hope this helps you.

Thanks Chris. I found it launches best right around 2900 rpms. I tried one launch from 1200 rpms and I smoked the tires well past the 60-ft mark. I really can't complain considering these are 16" tires.

Circle D, Can you elaborate more on why the 5C prefers foot-braking over flashing? Is it STR related? I've used a couple converters and always get a better 60' flashing them. Friend of mine also runs a Yank PT4000 and he seems to get good results flashing as well. I'm just curious?
