i have 4.10s and i am at about 3000 rpm at 70mph. 3.23s arent gonna be much difference from what you have now. i would do 3.73s personally but dont wanna mess with the stock rear again till it goes.

3.42 here, not much difference from 3.23. Got a deal on another 10 bolt and put it in.

Went from 3.23's to 3.42's to 3.91's.

I really like the 3.42's in the A4, you will still get decent mileage and it will pull real nice. My 3.91's kill it mileage wise and hurt a little top end (100+).

3.23's here stock. Works well for me. Nice accelaration, good gas mileage.

Thumbs up

I went from 3.23 to 3.73, I was turning 500RPM higher than with the 3.23, and I did not notice that much of a difference in gas milage, and the vehicle was a little more responsive off the line. HOWEVER when I installed the Y3000 converter, and got a tune, I lost 3MPG, but the vehicle was far more fun to drive.

I just went from 2.73s to 3.42s. I used to like the 2.73s. but i absolutely love the 3.42s. its a good mix of fun to drive and good mileage. ITs about 500 rpm higher then with the 2.73s. I did a long road trip last weekend. in the areas where the speed was 75 it suffered some on mileage, but where it was 65mph speeds it actually did the same as before. and my mpg in the city actually picked up some.(25 miles better in a tank)

I would go 3.73...but if you are set on either of the other two then get the 3.42 for sure
