Default 4L60e only has 2nd and 3rd gear
ok guys i have a 1995 trans am with a 94 4L60E. i know its not the right tranny cause of the pwm thing but when i first installed this tranny it worked fine from 1-4 gear. my question now is what wold make it not have 1st or 4th?? i was told that the shift solenoids would have something to do with it??? all i wanna do is get it to the point so i can drive it again before the snow flies i plan on getting the right tranny this winter but just wanna drive this car for now lol so any help guys would be much appreciated

I would suggest changing shift solenoid A the 1-2 solenoid, That would likely fix you up

ok yeah thats what i was thinkin i called a local shop here in spokane wa. and he told me that i could switch the shift solenoids to see if that would be my problem or not

changing the shift solenoid would that also give me my over drive back??? thanks for the help

Yes the 1-2 shift solenoid (A) controls both 1st and 4th

hey guys got that solenoid changed out and now i have both 1st and 4th im happy that i can now drive this thing lol im not too worried about it but i noticed that i cant hold it in manual 1st i have to keep it in overdrive to get 1st but like i said im not too worried about it but just curious as to why??? lol figured it cause its the wrong tranny(non pwm) but just wanted to thank you guys for the quick responses you've been a great help thanks jason
