a4 trans problem

a4 trans problem i have a 98 trans am with the 4l60e trans with a vig 3500 stall and today while drivin i lost second gear, first gear just winds way out but if u let off gas second gear will come no problem,. is my trans gone or is it somthing else?
are you sure it isnt actually going from 1-3 ?

yep, try riding down the road at 40 or so and manually putting it in second. I'm having the same problem right now. If you have any questions The guys at performabuilt are very helpful!
What i've learned, probably a partially damaged band (from what i understand) which means trans rebuild.
There is a SLIGHT possibility that it could be the servo, which is an inexpensive part. I've got a replacement on the way that i'm praying fixes it, because i'm broke as a joke!

I have the same problem with my 2000 Camaro. And I am also broke right now. I have been pricing out new trannys but just can't afford to do anything right now. It sucks cruising with no second gear though. First gear winds way up then you lift off the throttle and right into third. 2nd acts just like neutral if you manually shift into it.

third gear is fine, im sure it is second, if i drive easly it will get second at like 4500 rpm when im driving slow. first is fine third is fine, just hard to get it inrto second, keep me updated on the servo..
what were saying is, it's not actually going into second, at 4500 its going straight to third. Like i said, Try cruising at 40 and putting it down into 2. I'd almost be willing to bet it coasts like its in neutral.
