Convertor question w/ 350,400 or PG to LS1 I'm trying to find out if a special convertor of any sort is needed when running a Powerglide, 350 or 400 turbo behind an LS1. I know the transmissions bolt right on, but the top bolt doesn't get used. But what about the convertor? Will a regular SBC/BBC convertor work with the LS1 flexplate and most importantly is where the convertor hub meets the crank the same for LS1 and SBC. I'm planning an LS1 swap into my 93 camaro and I may use a powerglide and convertor that I already have behind the LS1.
Re: Convertor question w/ 350,400 or PG to LS1 They make 2 different bolt pattern converters for the Turbos....small and large. If I remember the small is 10.75". This will bolt directly to a stock LS1 flexplate. I bought an off the shelf converter and had to buy an adpetr to fit the front of the converter because it was too short. My new converter I had custom made and they made the snout of the converter 3/8" longer so no adpter was needed.
