Arrow Help Me decde whether im best with Auto or manual

Hey Everyone.

Im building a 2nd engine for my car this winter. Its going to be a TR230 cam, minor ported 706 casting 5.3l heads, LS6 intake, CAI, Stainless works LT headers, True duals etc.

My plans for the car -> Its a summer only car, i drive it mostly on nice days in the summer, but i do drive it as much as i can. It will see a couple drag strip days & a few open track day's.

Id like the trans to work well for the strip & well on the track dates.

The deal is i have both here. The car is currently setup for the 4L65e i have, however my ecm is fooking up and causeing my solenoids to kill themselves. I can replace my ECM & my solenoids, thats no big deal, but i know ill need a stall of some sort.

The T56 is a unit from a '00 t/a, its got a LS7 clutch & LS2 flywheel, Pro 5.0 shifter.

I can use either, im kinda leaning towards the T56, just after my horrid summer of my trans not wanting to shift properly.

If i were to stick to an auto, which stall would i want that would have nice street manners, and be pretty quick on a road course or on the strip.

All opinions GREATLY appreciated.

Sheldon

I would do the 6 speed if you want to road race it.

If it's mainly a road car with little track time, go with the 6-speed. Stalled A4's are fun as hell, and my preference any day of the week, but they're not for everyone.

I would say AUTO man unless your good about replacing clutches. I have several friends around here that bitch all the time about clutches. If you do go with a t56 do the spec 3 clutch thats what holds the best. I would just do a auto and not worry about it there are plenty of good sponsors on here and dam sound like everyone is having sales.
