Sliding a Th400 soon, I would really like to know for those who kept the M6 console what shifter did u go for? and any modifications were required to fit? some pics would be nice too...

On the GTO's guys have used the B&M Pro Ratchet. Just bolt down a plate over where the old shifter went through and then attach the shifter to that. That's what ACE recommended I do. I would give them a call and talk with them.

I went with a hurst pro-matic 2...had one in another build I did and loved it...Covered the hole in the floor, made a 1/8 inch plate to go across it and mount the shifter to..You can see the final product in my avatar pic to the left..

You could order a console style megashifter for like a 91 model camaro...that would be short enough to use in a 4th gen...they work for both 3-4 speeds all you do is take a screw out of the ratchet mechanism..Honestly I had forgot all about them...not sure how you could get the shifter boot down over it since it has that extra little pull out lever on the top for the lock out though...
