GM Steering Column Issues

Oh, I get it.
Someone starts a thread. In this case me!
Unit, please circle the correct answer RIGHT WRONG
Hopefully everyone reads the original post before they comment. Unit, please circle the correct answer RIGHT WRONG
Then, some folks talk about dogs, five year olds, how some of us ever made it through life. Unit, please circle the correct answer RIGHT WRONG
Originally, I questioned why one broke *** company should ever buy another broke *** company, with OUR TAX money? In my simple *** five year old mind no one has answered that question. WHY
I know what 150 million dollars is. Give it to me. I'll assemble a team. We won't talk about dogs, five year olds, and how some of us got here. We'll look at THE BIG PICTURE.
I am talking to anyone willing to step up and answer any question I have asked. thanks
JD

JD Unit already answered this for you.... GM and Delphi are married at the hip. GM simply can't survive without them.
It's very simple. If Delphi goes under, GM goes under.
There is no OEM without a supply base. Delphi is GM's largest supplier.
Therefore, they have to protect them in order to protect themselves.
Is it really that hard to comprehend? GM is in survival mode here.
You need to step back and look at things from a 50,000 foot view to gain
some perspective.
You remind me of my dog when she was a puppy. We would take her to a huge
park with a lake and a football field size area to run in...but she would just keep
her head down and sniff a 3 square foot area. My point is that she didn't understand
that there were bigger things available. She didn't comprehend the big picture. Neither
do you.

Lets kick a little harder:
Remember you're dealing with a five year old, Jakes Dad. It's true it's true - many have said it, even administrators.
Does anyone know what Material Handling Equipment is?
We sold to GM, Delphi, Honda, Ford, Chrysler, and Toyota in the USA. Did that for 30 years - SOLD THE BUSINESS IN 2000 - kids
I learned how to play in the dirt. So Fxxxxxx what? I've never said I have all the answers to all the problems.
Anyone can argue anything with me anytime. Call me names, no problem, make your point in the process..
GOD BLESS AMERICA
You're dealing with an old grumpy hard headed SOB. I've had my *** beat. I've lost deals. I've been wrong. I've won my share of stuff.
I am not an administrator. I still enjoy posting here. I've have never ever been anything more than Jakes Dad.

A White House bailout of GM and Chrysler won't prevent the collapse of North America's shakiest suppliers. Hello Delphi!! Hello LS1 Tech
Suppliers typically must operate their factories at 80 percent of capacity or better to turn a profit. Early next year, that's 2009 today in my simple mind, suppliers will be lucky to operate at 50% to 60% capacity.
I didn't say this - Automotive News did. In December of 2008. This simple Fxxxxxx minded five year old read the article and remember it. Part of the reason I made my Original March 2009 post.
I think there are suppliers in the US providing steering parts to Chrysler, Ford, Toyota, Honda, & Nissan. Perhaps even suppliers with better track records that can and will pick-up the slack if Delphi folds.
If Delphi is so important to GM why in the hell did they waste the money, stock, and time to spin Delphi off in 2000?
I'll answer my own question since a whole day has passed and I still don't see why one broke comany should buy another. They thought they could add sales if Delphi wasn't part of GM. Perhaps had Delphi fixed inferior designs. Stopped product, etc. etc. instead of letting people who buy GM vehicles, do the filed testing for them, then have a any dealership tell a customer. Take it or leave it. I wouldn't have made this post.
Love you all! - Call me anything you want - Don't beat around the bush please provide facts not opinions. We'll get along find. In other words pack your lunch. I shouldn't say that but I am insulted to read some of your insults.

JD GM had to give Delphi money because as Unit said they're critical to GM's operations, much like Visteon is to Ford. They also were obligated as it was a GM division back when they were AC Delco ect. Part of the spin off agreement said GM had to help out(basically). They had pension and health care obligations, the owner may have changed but the contracts didn't.
GM isn't buying Delphi back, they want the tools and factory that the steering units are built in so that they can still build cars. The Camaro was delayed because the company building the door panel went bankrupt and they had the tools/dies needed to produce them. Insignificant if it were any other car, but if you start losing suppliers that supply parts to halo vehicles or a part common to 90% of GM's lineup you have a huge problem.

Delphi has pretty much been folded for 2+ years now and should be a great indication of how hard it would be for GM to reorganize under bankruptcy as Delphi is smaller and less complex and yet has been in ch. 11 for two years now.
You all are right I am wrong - thanks for the economic information.
None of this really matters. GM can't make it with the vehicle deliveries I see. Doesn't matter to me how many times the government bails anyone out. Most of you are younger than me. You'll be the ones living and working much longer than me.
Around noon today, the dogs, a box of Cohiba cigars, take off to the farm until Tuesday.
