Default New Gto Times!?

Ive been seeing sometime that the gto is putting out and I am a little confused! I mean the thing weighs 3725 pounds and has the same power train we do. Motor Trend gave it a 5.3 0-60 time and 13.62 in the quater. THey rated the trans am and camaros at like a 5.2 0-60 and the 13.7 or 8 range if i remeber when they came out. What the hell?

The T-56 in the GTO's are a closer ratio. Maybe thats it? Maybe GM accidently slipped in an LS6 cam in the GTO's.

That's awesome!!! I thought they were low 14 second cars at best. For Motor Trend times, people might be able to break 12s with them...

THis is frickin awesome.

Just goes to show you magazine peeps are stupid. If it only weighs 3725, its only 200lbs heavier than the avg f-body.. The fbody definately had potential to run more than a 13.7. Usually just subtract half a second off of whatever Motor Trend runs, and you'll have what the car actually has the potential to run with a good driver. Motor Trend times usually are well under the cars potential and more inline with the average or even sometimes under average driver.

That's what I was saying. Didn't they have the Z06 rated at 12.6? I was thinking that maybe some excellent drivers (such as J-Rod) might be able to break 12s with the GTO. There's gotta be some kinda trick that GMs given them... maybe an LS6 part somewhere, like a cam (stated before)? i wanna find out more about this, now.

I think they will run mid 13's and 0-60 right over 5 seconds

I would not expect to see them run much faster stock than mid-13s on stock tires even with a good driver.

Did Moter Trend actually test the Gto, or are these just estimated times?

By the way in the Gto forum Autoweek was saying Gm estimated the quarter mile time in 14 seconds at over 100 mph.
