GM's trying to play with our heads again...
PickupTrucks.com reports this morning that Mark Reuss, General Motors' newly installed president of GM North America, says the Holden VE Ute may still come to the U.S. If it does, it could wear the famed Chevrolet El Camino badge.
ALSO
In addition to Reuss's comments yesterday on a new El Camino, Lutz went on to tell The Age "[T]here's a possibility of a premium Chevrolet sedan that would be sold in limited numbers. Think of it as a kind of four-door Corvette"
Jesus it's what Pontiac was trying to do before you flipped your **** and axed everything worth while in your damn company. So bottom line, I'm excited but I don't believe em...

However, I agree that the G8 should be shifted to Chevy as the new Impala. Chevy would have a very strong line up then....something for everyone. Right now all they are lacking is a V8 RWD sedan.

I feel sorry for the poor fellas at the Holden plant in Australia. They gotta worry about which brand/model/emblem/continent/steering-orientation that their Holden is going out the door as.....anyone get a Chevy Lumina SS owner's manual in their Pontiac G8 with the Holden Commodore emblems on the fenders? Or better yet a right-hand drive G8?

I just don't see the "El Camino/Ute" selling well here.
Look at the SSR, it was basically the same thing and it was a complete flop.
GM needs to transfer the Sky/Soltice to Chevy (those were both great successes) and all they are doing is losing money without it. And get the G8 spun up under a Chevy name as well (Impala would be nice).

From: HOU - yeah, you know the rest.
If GM wants to introduce a premium sedan, they should bring over the Holden W427. If they would do this and not change it and dull it up like they do for the U.S., it would make for one helluva sedan.

Pontiac had nothing worthwhile, other than G8. That was hardly "everything" worthwhile in the company.

Ignoring all the rebadged crap they put out they were getting to the good stuff, GTO, solstice coupe, G8, Ute, and who knows what other vehicles that could of led to.
And if you compare to what? a corvette and finally a camaro... I'll stick up for my Pontiac thank you. Even thier appliance type cars had a little soul (Grand Prix etc). But I'm not here to argue over what is essentially the same company GM in general needed a major overhaul (and still does to some extent).

Let me get this straight, they have canceled the Colorado/Canyon (2012), which had the worst interior of anything, sold horribly and they didn't do **** to fix it. Now they want to bring over an El Camino...dumb GM. Fix the Midsize truck that has a fairly good sized market placed (Toy Taco dominates this market) and then think about bringing over a El Camino.
A premium upscale Chevy (RWD) is a good idea

If they changed the G8 to impala id enver buy one jsut because of all the problems we are having with my impala now.
I think some anmes should be kept while others like just general cars/sedans need a totally new name and not ****** G6 G8 etc etc, a real name.

They should immediately stop the badge engineering and sell them as Holdens over here straight up (aside from the left hand drive conversion).
Holden as they are in Aussie land has a more European, trendy flair that I think the average person won't relate back to the 'low quality' issues they typically do.
- Save money.
- Cooler names.
- Better looks.
- No development time in the rebadging process and the parts can be used on either car...
