2 ways...

The 2003 Cobra did it in short order as well. I think this new car is more impressive though, for various reasons.

I was racing at the time the 2010 SS started showing up at the track last year and I was very excited. Not because I liked them, but because of the monster HP rating and all the tests in the magazines said 13.1-13.3. The 01-02 F bodys were rated @ 325hp for my car and track tested 13.3-13.6 with 6spd 13.4-13.8 auto. We all know that wasnt right because numerous even 99 F bodys broke into 12's, but it was very rare, ive never seen it, but my car went 13.18 with a LID and 104k on the ODO. I've seen many run 13.0-13.2 with just lid and put down 300+ on a dyno when its rated at 325 at the crank. The first 3 2010 SS cars i seen ran the best of 13.8 and had good 60ft and sounded like they were moving good but didnt look like it, they would pull 112mph still. My buddy got one finally and had full exhaust installed and a tune and got it at 13.6, it dynoed 342 stock which it should have dynoed around 370 being 426hp. after mods it put down 376. I was bummed, and I cant stand stangs, but I seen a couple 2010's run 13.6-13.8 and they were rated at like 320hp. This new 5.0 stang is scaring me thats all I know.

here is some news about the coyote limits:

i watched and talked to justin burchams team about his 2011GT procharged this weekend.

he is running a stock interior. plus SFI requirements. he is running 14.5 psi of boost on the STOCK ENGINE. they would not quote exact numbers, but its making over 700rwhp on the stock motor. 14.5 psi is enough to make 800hp at the crank.

he didnt get any good runs. he blew two rear ends, and a transmission.he ended up leaving the event. manual tranny cannot take the power. the autos can.

That's serious holding power in my book... STOCK pistons? I'm not sure I'm believing that. Blowing a trans means it was either making big power or a shift was missed. Blowing the rear twice is just plain weird, considering it was Justin and surely his car had work done already. I've only glanced, but doesn't the new Mustang still get the 8.8" rear? If so, that should be almost a no brainer... Those are relatively easy to make strong and I know I've seen claims of 7's with them.

Anyway, that's major boost for the compression in that engine. Impressive.
