I'm stoked to see what these two do out in the real world. Excellent match up. You know.. The new Camaro didn't really interest me until the 5.0 reared it's head once sgain.

Gotta say, I like the 5.0 more. Just not feeling that CS version. The Mustang doesn't have the Brembos and no matter what it might say I doubt it has the 3:73's. All the other tests I have read with the 3:73's have been in the 12's. My biggest issue with the new Camaro isn't its extra weight, but its interior. The Mustang is just so much nicer. First time I have EVER liked the Mustang more....

Well, I'm still confused on the results of the 5.0 Mustang.. Here's something I read on Autoblog that dead locks the Stang with a car I would never expect and also has much different numbers than this review... by a long shot.

They are publishing the official numbers from the manufacturers of both cars. Autoblog doesn't do their own real track tests.

Hypothetically, I wonder what the new 5.0 would pull with 2.73 gears, automatic transmission and a Y-straw exhaust like the LS1 F-bodies were saddled with. Purely hypothetical. I think the A6 carries 3.15s?

I don't know about an LS1 comparison but the 'automatic' race between the new SS and new GT should be an interesting one. The SS automatic has 3.27 gears but really tall wheels/tires and the GT automatic has 3.15s but shorter (better gearing) 18"/19" tires and both have the super steep 6 speed automatic first gear that I've grown to love in my Corvette...should be a good race between those two.

Why ask why? You've never wondered about random what ifs?

It'll be interesting for sure. My 4L60 is looking beyond antiquated these days. I'd kill for an A6 in the catfish.
