The direct injection will be awesome....
however formula 1 cars do use camshafts. They have pneumatic valve "springs" to deal with the high rpm's.
Did you know a formula 1 engine has to be heated to be run??? The tolerances are so tight the engine wont turn over unless the metal is warmed and allowed to expand.
