Imma bring this thread back from the dead...hate me if you will.
My Dad just recently purchased one, 6-spd with the Performance Package (5.0 Brakes/GT and GT500 Suspension parts, eg. traction bars, strut tower bars, etc., 3.31 gear vs. the stock 3.08). Since he bought it about 4xx miles ago I've installed a Magnaflow Competition Catback on it and a C&L Performance intake...were waiting on someone to test out a handheld programmer or a laptop tuner such as HPT. Reason they are doing so good is because yet again, Ford underrated all their cars horsepower figures...like the Terminator. These new sixers are making over 300 to the tire stock...not the crank. I drove it the other day...very smooth ride, effortless clutch, and pulls pretty decent all the way to its 7K RPM redline. We'll be taking it to dyno day here soon if you guys are interested in the results...

I'm curious, too.
I won't knock the motor because it's a V6. I will knock it because it's a Ford, though.
Seriously, though, at some point in the next couple of years, our Impala will be replaced by a Synergy Green Metallic 3.6 liter Camaro with 6-speed manual tranny. The wife really likes that car, and I think it's pretty cool, too.
We just don't need 430 HP in our commuter car, and if i wanna run fast, I'll take the Buick.

The standard for 2025 vehicles is 62 mpg, doubt V8s can get that, and will be slapped with massive guzzler fees. That's why I said that, V6s may die out as well. We also may see that reintroduction of the 3 cylinder and maybe one person 2 cylinder cars.

nothing like rolling solo in my 2 banger.

I have yet to see any substantiated evidence of this regulation.

I'm sorry read it wrong, it COULD reach over 60.

guys for anyone who is worried about v-8's dying your crazy. While the government regulation of 60 M.P.G. is a idea it will be killed as soon as the republican party takes control of capital hill again. (not to get political, but its never been like the republicans to interfere with strict corporate regulations.) Besides unless this country suddenly turns away from capitalism there will always be a v-8. Companies will build what there is a market for. There will also be a market in the us for big, fast, un fuel efficient v-8's, its just how americans are.
As for people in this thread worried that G.M. will have no answer just be patient. I have a family member that works fairly high up in general motors and he did also mention a new version of the ls motor to be released. However they haven't decided what car to put it in. The options that have been mentioned included a new camaro SS and moving the current ls3 to a Z-28 trim, or putting it into a new vette. Also don't forget the G8 is scheduled to come back in the form of the chevy caprice classic as soon as next year with a re vamp l76 and a SS trim with the LS3. Believe me as soon as dodge releases their new charger G.M. will strike.

There was a 2011 V6 stang running 13.4's@103ish so you guy's with stock LS4's better watch out. LMAO
Lack of torque my ***! plus these cars have 5 spd automatics to help manipulate the torque curve quicker.

6spd autos, and 6spd manuals. Wish the 6spd manuals were double overdrive, that would be awesome. Ford ditched the 5spd autos in '10.

Nope, SHE didnt. The car only had 200 miles on it. That is my wife driving. Car is still doing great at 25k. Looking to put some sticky tires under it. Went 8.8's spinning. No doubt it will do 8.5's with some good tires, instead of those super hard 225's.
BTW in the vid it was running a 9.3, impala ran a 9.4, very hot July night.
