The 6.1L HEMI put down some serious horsepower and the latest version is even more stout with more displacement and horsepower. The Challenger just like the Charger is it's a heavy pig which hurts it's performance.

It's sacrilegious to say on here but in stock form liter per liter in N/A form the SRT8 HEMI beats the LS3 in torque across the board. Put all the Mopars on a diet and they could be a serious contender.

I'd go with a Challenger SRT8 just because it's the closest out of all the retro cars to the original.

To call that car nimble is a crime. Where's the boat anchor to stop it?

Nice looking car. But it suffers along with a lot of current cars and Americans, its overweight.

I would sooner buy this Challenger than ANY other current production vehicle. Even over a ZR-1. People bash the Challenger far too much.

Well the cobra starts at 49K and I really don't believe this car is aimed at it anyway. I believe this car is aimed squarely at the camaro and I believe it may actually beat it. More expensive yes, with that said I have seen plenty of $42K dollar camaros. And with regards to weight, there pretty close. The SRT is about 250lbs or so more then the camaro which ain't much. "I'd say the competition is definatley closing in on the camaro to say the least. Any type of weight reduction would severly turn the tables on the other.

12.4 @ 110mph will be good enough to put it right with/slightly ahead of the Mustang GT... but damn it's gonna cost so much more.

That's the problem... it's caught price-wise between the GT and the GT500, but the performance is MUCH closer to the GT. At least in the straight line...

1st of all, yes it is a beautiful car..... with that being said

camaro ss = $30k
mustang gt = $30k

srt-8 = $45k+

an srt-8 cost 50% more......

you could have a new pro-charged ss or gt and still have several thousand in your pocket with what just a stock srt-8 would cost

its a beauty of a car and screams american muscle but it also screams too many american dollars that could be put to better use in just as good cars if not better.....

You don't see too many Camaros or Mustangs that cost just $30k on the lots. Most of them are much closer to $40k.

Well trishield just took the words right out of my mouth. Where are you seeing a camaro SS for $30K? You can't get a used 2010 camaro SS for that price.
I'd say that SRT is overpriced as well but at least it finally delivers.

as was covered already. too heavy, too expensive and probably like most chryslers unreliable. why do you have to spend well over 40k to get a good motor in this car when its competition offers it in its base v8 model?

a camaro SS comes standard with an ls3 and brembo brakes at a reasonable price. a 5.0 mustang is a killer deal for what you get.

sorry, this car just doesnt compete price wise and sales reflect that.

i dont dislike this car at all. im all for more power and better handling but not for that price. i hope the interior on this car is improved. it needs it badly imo.

It looks great, makes great power, hauls ***...but...

It's still to big for me, its like driving a SUV around. That and even the new Camaro are just to big in size why they made them that big is beyond me.

Because each only had one RWD platform they could make the cars out of. Otherwise they wouldn't exist nor justify their own bespoke structure for just one car.

Think again, Mopar Action Mag ran a BONE STOCK manual one at 12.29 at 111 mph, a professional driver would put it in the 11s! Imagine what it will do with a set of slicks!

The 12.44 you've heard about was an automatic!

I'm proud to say I own the exact car Mopar Action used!
