That's damn quick no doubt.
And you may be right about the better driver being able to run 11s with it but that depends on a few different factors such as air temps, track prep and just how good (or bad) the driver that ran that 12.29 is.
Three tenths (12.29 to an 11.99) or more is A LOT but again it is possible.

The 12.44 you've heard about was an automatic!

I'm proud to say I own the exact car Mopar Action used!
Think about it... 12.29 @ 111mph... You think a 4200 lb (pre-driver) car with 470hp/tq ran that number in FACTORY STOCK condition? The mph tells me it was on slicks to knock down a .29...

A factory Dodge driver apparently got 12.3's so far. This car is really cool, but it's got ZERO chance in the real world against a lighter, far more powerful GT500. We're talking about some 300 lb lighter and 70hp more... This is no contest.

I've seen 12.44 at just under 111mph on video, but with all the rubber on the body, I'm taking a WAG it was on cheaters. In the video above, 13 flat at ... 111mph. Even if it runs 12.20's on the 1/4, the GT500 also handles better. Not to mention even the 5.0L 2011 Mustang GT has run 12.39 or so... I'm betting the 5.4L is more than a 1/10th better, best against best.

Btw, back in December, that 12.29 ET was brought up as a topic, and the OP said the mag averaged 12.38 and ran at Infineon... Idonno about all that. 1st, the claim was met with GREAT skepticism even on Challengertalk . com... Next, there ARE videos of passes made there. The best I saw was 12.44... 111mph. Then, in the conversation, a post came in saying the passes in question weren't ACTUALLY on the track with timers, but instead, were calculated using the cars onboard computer... If that's the deal, DON'T count on 12.2's from the average driver ON a real track with timing lights active. Car and Driver reported 12.9 @ 114... Great mph, but will people be knocking down the 1/4 alongside GT500's? Idonno... Those tend to see around 120.

I want one. I don't care if the competition is faster, just look at how beautiful it is.

I just test drove a new Inaugural Edition six-speed on Monday. Beautiful car, not nearly as fast as I was expecting, but really, really big car to drive. That would take some getting used to.

The 392 is turning out to be way underated, Dynos are saying 530 HP, 452RWHP.

The one I drove didn't feel like it had that much horsepower.

The way the pricing is getting on these new pony cars, I'd be looking at pre-owned Corvette Z06. Around here every dick and his brother have a Charger, Mustang or Camaro (me included).

From a pricing perspective, you're right. But, for those that need a back seat, that's not an option.

With all that weight, they'll NEED IT! A Shelby GT500, and I'm sure the upcoming ZL1 will make power in that range pretty easily and while I'm not so certain about the Camaro, the Shelby is still lighter and still handles better...

For this Challenger price, the BOSS can be had... Oddly, this car is priced right about where the FAR LESSER performing new SRT392 is... And dare I say, this Mustang will kick that Challenger to the curb in a hurry. No, it's not as comfy... but it sure does perform! DODGE... This is a minimum of what I expect for over 42k...

I'm just sayin'... underrated or not, this Dodge will be more than just hard-pressed to run with the GT500... It's going to be all but unheard of on a real track. Seems more like this high hp version will have its hands full with a GT or SS for most. The real problem is its high price. Dodge doesn't intend to sell many... Like their 60's and 70's muscle cars, they're creating a name, not a number. They want the clamor from the crowd coming up... to sell more vehicles to those people 10yrs from now. It almost worked way back when, but turned out not nearly as well as they'd hoped. The same will be the case this time.

An overpriced Dodge product doesn't sell any better than other overpriced brands. If I can take one of these and whip a new GT or SS, congratulations to me... When the guy comes along with the GT500, I'll sit quietly and be proud of my 45k Dodge which I really don't wanna race that GT500 in. I mean, I'll WANNA... I just won't want the whippin' I'll prolly get.

Nothing against this Dodge, but color me unimpressed beyond the fact they actually built one with power worthy of calling POWER! In the end, this car will be another "also ran" in the record books. People will remember that it sneaked past the Mustang GT and Camaro SS on the dragstrip and probably top end, then got SMASHED in every other category by the cars sold for 10-15k less in the same town.

The power is excellent! The looks are spot on... The size is good too... except that MASSIVE WEIGHT factor... That alone, almost ruins any gains the car had. My biggest problem with this Dodge is... IRON BLOCK? HELLO!!! Aluminum would shave about 100 lb right now AND make it more worthy of it's incredibly high price tag.
