Edmunds Full-Test - 2012 R35 Nissan GT-R Black Edition
#21
I'd heard about some of the transmission issues early on but I'd thought that it was supposed to be one of those relatively maintenance free 'daily drivable' type of performance cars much like a Corvette.
Something like that might only be worse now as well with the GTR's newly added power.

This is a little out-dated, but a good read:
http://blogs.insideline.com/roadtest...expensive.html
And here is the schedule:
http://www.nissanusa.com/content/dam...10_GTR_SMG.pdf
Sounds like it would add up if you used it like you should.

Screw a zr1, A z06 with a great driver would also be a good race. Seeing that this trap GTR trapped 124.1, the z06 is capable of about a 127 trap with a great driver and has ran a 10.98 STOCK and 10.73 with drag radials ONLY! Its no where near a zr1 with a great driver IMO.
Still a sick as car though! I guess im one of the rare ppl that actually likes the looks of it!

On NAGTROC there are people who are getting much cheaper maintenance for these cars. Just look at all of the threads on Maintenance Section there. And I highly doubt these cars are more expensive to maintain than a Ferrari. ZR1 maintenance is in fact cheaper but its not cheap at all for a Corvette.

Put either a Z-06 OR a ZR-1 against a GTR at a stoplight in anytown USA and the chevys will lose.
Next throw some DR's on the chevys (O god please don't rain) and go pick the fight again...
If you can really jock your chevy you got a good chance.... of KEEPING UP....
The roads by me are pretty slick for 2wd launches....
The Nissan just drives away....
On a smaller scale that's the way it turns out if I line up with a big hp stickshift car in my crappy 4 cyl. evo. They think they are a sure win so they leave soft and bog.... 70 or 80 is about it for me here... they come like a freight train.... and I do lose. haha. O well it's all good fun.

2012 GT-Rs are limited to four launches in a row before the system requires a 1.5-mile cool-down drive.

Where did they get the zr1 test numbers?
Their own gt-r vs. zr1 article showed:
slalom: 74.7 mph
grip: 1.06 gs
1/4 mile 11.5@128.3
60-0: 96 feet

Stock for stock I think at any drag strip the Z06 and GT-R would be a good race. They trap close and the GT-R gets consistent low 11s. I think a good driver in one of these new GT-Rs might see a slightly higher trap (2-3mph gain) and high 10s (10.9s). The trap speed this new GT-R has its very possible for it to do so.

GT-R beat the ZR1 by .6 and the the GT-R trapped ~1mph HIGHER in the 1/4 mile.
How does a GT-R that weights 3800lbs+ and puts down 430rwhp trap higher than a ZR1? My guess... there were some pretty significant DA differences they forgot to mention.
