I can't wait to see what a pulley/LT's/stall and a tune does to this car, going to move real good I bet.

That's what I'm assuming to. I haven't heard of a failure problem with the trans. I'm just wondering what Jeremy at RPM Transmissions is talking about.

There are a few issues on some of the higher powered Corvettes out there no doubt. Mine has been perfect after over 200+ passes (ranging from low 12s with the stock converter on down to some high 10s with a 3200) but then again I'm making less than 400 horsepower at the wheels and the car doesn't weigh nearly 4000 pounds like a ZL1 might either.
But on the other hand, if it's going to be a 6L90 and not a 6L80 that should help a tiny bit as well.

Ha! Yourself! You are obviously misguided in your thinking. Look at Ferrari only offering the 458 with paddle shift trans, Lamborghini manual transmission sales account for less then 20% of their sales, the Nissan GTR only auto. I read a poll recently that most Europeans now prefer the F1 type paddle shift transmissions over the traditional manual transmission.

HUGE difference between a F1-style automatically-shifted manual transmission, and a traditional automatic.

True.
But at least a paddle shift operated 'traditional automatic' brings that gap just a tiny little bit closer.

Hopefully the next Corvette line will come with a true F1 style sequential manumatic, there has been some talk of it.

Oh really? You mean you can't just let it drive in auto mode, if you don't feel like shifting. Can't exactly do that in a traditional manual trans.

Personally, I would never buy any car with a manual, and the ZL1 was on my radar back when the auto test mule version was spotted. Then they said "no auto", so I lost all interest in the car.

But with this new information, I will again consider this car as a future possibility.

This is because you don't have driving skills.

Why? Auto= I drove a Lambo with a paddle shift with an automode. No thank you, give me the manual. Auto's (and paddle shifters) suck a lot of the fun out of a car for me.

I would think one of the reasons the Z06 doesn't sell in the quantities the other models do is partly price.

If GM didn't have faults in their transmissions we would be happy being able to run 10's and faster on stock trannys and you would be out work. Be happy that **** breaks so you can make it bigger and badder.

Good point.
Though I have (so far LOL) in fact run high 10s on a stock 6L80, with a converter and trans cooler of course.
