2013 GT500 will be lighter than the 2011 GT500.

I didn't say it wouldn't "hang" with one. It is not going to out perform it though. The GT500 DOES get the power bump next year. Although, since the 2012s just went on sale, I wouldn't look for anything solid form Ford untill late fall, probably when the hype for the ZL1 will be at fever pitch Also, look for somehting else to be included in this "pack" with the bigger blower

As for weight, the 2011 gt500 is already lighter than the SS. Do you really think they are going to add the blower assembly and fluid coolers and reduce the weight of the car in total??? That is probably 100lbs worth of stuff easy, let alone any other items on the car that will be changed.
from what i understand itll have lighter rims and body panels. i expect some expensive light weight parts to appear on this car but thats just from what ive read based on pricing. a shop i use ordered one.

600-610hp would be a realistic advertised HP and would prevent it from over-shadowing the 638hp Corvette ZR1

Call me crazy but I'll take a turbo GT500 with 650 if ford really does that and its the same price. For the money it was pretty close to the new Z07 and GTR at the track with its current configuration.

Curious on cost between the GT500 and the ZL1 as well. Not that I'm going to buy one. I think my WS6 thats 9 years old still looks better than both.

I just got done watching motor week and it was about the 2011 SLP ZL1. Only 69 being made with a price tag of $111,xxx. It has 750 horsepower, quarter mile-11.1 secs. and 0--60 is 3.2 secs. Great performance car, too bad I can't afford one.

HP rating is about 550, confirmed
You know what, he said he's not 100% sure. Forget that I said confirmed. But this came from a GM employee who's name is requested to be confidential.
Who's this guy? Lol sorry but no one that isn't working on the ZL1 knows the exact hp rating of it or is allowed to give out the exact numbers. Hell even the people working on the ZL1 don't know its exact numbers. It will def be in the high 5xx if anything low 600. People say it won't be in the 600 range because of the ZR1 well I say that's bull **** because the ZR1 weighs like 600-700 lb lighter & its a completely different car. So why wouldn't it? I'm sure the boys at GM know what their doing & got it in the bag with the ZL1. They can't afford to mess it up. When the ZL1 comes out I'm sure it will have more hp then the GT500 but of course Ford will come back next year with a faster GT500 to beat it.

Not to be pedantic, but I bet the people that built/tuned the engines of the various models we've seen probably have a good idea what it's putting out.

I sure hope so, cuz I'd bet it is 200-300lbs heavier.

It doesn't really matter if it weighs more.
The CTS-V weighs a good deal more than the GT500 but is quicker (at least faster) stock on average.
Even car and driver got a 12.3 at 119 in a few cts-v's.
