COOL STORY BRO.. Said average American. How much do you weigh? & I said the curb weight was 3850 right? But what we were "originally" talking about is the GT500 doing 200+ in the ring. So "curb weight" doesn't mean jack ****! It comes down to race weight/real time

annnd....by your methods, then the zl1 must weigh about 4400#
Probably does depending on the driver... Not saying the 2013 GT500 with a driver will weigh in the 4,xxx lb range. But I'm pretty sure majority of them will. Who the **** cares anyway. Fact is you don't weigh 150 lbs or less. So there for if you were in a 2013 GT500 the total car would weigh 4,xxx lbs correct? Your really going to go on a ******* diet so it doesn't weigh that amount? Make a poll right now on here asking what everyone's weight is. Put $100 that the majority of people on here 20 & up won't weigh less then 150 lbs..........

Why are you talking about a car's weight with driver? This isn't SR&K, and we don't have driver weights. So compare curb weights. And do you think the GT500 will be able to hit 200mph+ anywhere?

People don't gut their interiors for nothing? Yes more hp/tq can back up the weight but were talking about only 24 more hp & 27 more tq for the GT500 compared to the ZR1.

Compare a freaking Miata with a stock LS1 engine in it compared to it racing a stock LS1 Camaro/Trans Am or LS1 Corvette. Miata is going to win because of weight right?

Who knows maybe the GT500 will top 200+ at the Nurburgring. If it does all the power to it. I'm looking forward to the comparison videos

Where are you getting your info from? Power to weight doesn't mean hardly anything when we are talking about going over 200mph. If it does, then explain to me how a 5250 (CURB weight) Continental GT will match a C6Z06s top speed with only 550hp?

Oh I'm sorry I forgot cars drive themselves now a days.... Umm does it not weigh 3850 lbs? What person do you know old enough to drive a new GT500 that doesn't weigh more then 150 lbs? & pretty sure the Corvette ZR1 is capable to go more then 200 mph right? & it did 179 at the ring? which only has a few less hp/tq & weighs couple hundred lbs less then a GT500 with better aero.

& your lil "Take this how you wish, but maybe if you knew more about the things you were arguing people would give your opinions more merit..."

right.......
And for the record, we were talking about it doing top speed testing at the Nardo ring, not the Nurburgring.

Damn dude, do you NOT know how to read? Why am I talking about the car's weight with a driver? Because there will be a driver in the car when he plans to do this 200+ down the freaking straight at the ring right? Therefor I'm pretty sure that GT500 will weigh 4,xxx lbs or close to it? Right.... Yes we don't have the drivers weight when car companies post the rings "official" time. But do you not take that into consideration when comparing cars? Honestly? Lol Anyway.... Looking forward to its "official Nurburgring time" Surprised its taken them this long to do?

That, and the fact that Nurburgring times depend WAY more on the driver than they do the car.

mannn....you got no sense of humor at all, do ya? i was being sarcastic. and for the record, i only weigh 160, so yes with me in it it will weigh 4010. i'll take a few gallons of fuel out. 2 should suffice.

Guess you missed that one to. Ehh yea how bout you tell me this. Which one will get their faster? Because that is what I am saying when Ford takes the 2013 GT500 to the ring. I don't think it will get a faster top speed. I'm sure it will go 200 mph give the hp & gearing. But what I'm saying is there's a difference between going a certain mph & getting to that speed faster. & the ZR1 takes that.

& I'm saying Nurburgring.... I don't think it will get a higher mph then the ZR1

This is the first time I have seen someone try to argue drivers weight when comparing brand new cars. The extra 150-250 pounds from a driver is NOT going to hinder the performance of the car very much. I'm pretty sure Ford designed the car and based it's specs off of what it could actually do while being driven by an actual person. Sounds like you're just trying to grasp at all straws so that you can downplay the car in some way or another.

So...you brought up the Nurburgring for no reason. Got it.

Not downgrading anything... I've given props to the 2013 GT500 when it has been due. What I'm simply was saying but we were having to different comparison & tracks is a car with only 20 more hp that weighs more won't get to a certain mph faster. For my example the Nurburgring. ZR1 did 179. Don't think the GT500 will top that.

I'm confused, since when did top speed at the 'Ring become something that was compared? I would hope the ZR1 could take down a car that costs less than half when the ZR1 is supposed to be a "budget" supercar. And why did you change the argument from top speed to how long it takes to get there?

This GT500 is going to be right in between the $76k Z06 and $112k ZR1 when it comes to getting up to speed, that's pretty damn impressive for a MUSTANG in my book.

Didn't change any argument... Did you not bring up

Like I said I was comparing its top speed for the straight at the ring. So power to weight comes into play.

I think I said right away, the new Shelby will be compared to the ZR1 more than the ZL1... Looks pretty clear so far.

I think the 2013 GT500 will post a slightly quicker 'ring time than the ZL1, quicker than the Boss 302 as well I'd assume.
And I do believe that it might be able to hit 200+mph (190s for sure with that kind of power) in the right conditions as well, not on a twisty road course obviously but on a long enough straight runway or perhaps the Autobahn.

Same here...fastest I've ever hit on the highway is roughly 130-135mph, only did it once or twice and only for a very quick/short burst, never sustained and never with any other vehicles around me.
